Building connection through food
Alder exists because we believe food brings people together. In a world where genuine connection feels rare, we wanted to create a space where people from all walks of life can break bread together and feel at home.
My culinary journey began in Michelin-starred kitchens, but what I learned there goes beyond technique-it's that hospitality is an art form. For years, I've cooked for high-end clientele through Calderon Dining, and now, with Alder, my wife Kirsten and I are bringing that same dedication to hospitality into a place where everyone belongs.
This isn't just a bakery. It's a space where mothers and dads meet for coffee, where workers grab lunch, where someone can sit with a book for hours without feeling rushed. Where the person behind the counter knows your name, or wants to.

Ample free parking with two entrances right off Route 103. Drive past Vermont Country Store (heading north) and we're on your left. Can't miss it.
From Interstate 91: Easy ten minute drive from exit 6 on 91. Right down the road from the VT Country Store
From Springfield, VT: Follow 11 West into Chester, then take a left onto 103 South and look for us on the right a half mile down the road.
From Okemo: Leave Ludlow traveling South on 103. Shortly after you enter Chester turn left at the stop sign to stay on 103 and you will find us on the right roughly a mile later.
